Stop Digging Up the F*cking Seed

Stop Digging Up the F*cking Seed

Stop Digging Up the F*cking Seed

You really want to explore and understand your relationship with putting an intention out there and waiting for the physical to catch up?

Start a garden.

(Or go on a healing journey… the parallels are fucking insane.)

I cannot tell you the number of times I have planted a seed and then checked the same spot in the garden every. single. day. for weeks hoping to see a sprout.

Like…

Anything?

Hello?

You in there?

And eventually, the sprout did indeed come.

Just not in the time I would’ve liked it to.

Nor can I tell you the number of times I’ve started taking a supplement—or hopped into a protocol—and expected to be feeling noticeably better within two weeks.

Two weeks.

After potentially YEARS of something being off.

Sounds ridiculous when you say it out loud, doesn’t it?

üòÇ

And yet…I‚Äôve done it.

Only to realize later that the true benefit of what I was doing had been accumulating over weeks, if not months.

HUMANS.

(Myself absolutely included.)

We are GREAT at logically understanding that the physical lags, if you will.

We know a seed doesn’t become a tomato overnight.

We know a body doesn’t rebuild overnight.

We know a business doesn’t grow overnight.

We know a relationship doesn’t deepen overnight.

We know strength isn’t built from one workout.

We understand all of this.

Logically.

Put it into practice?

We are fucking terrible at understanding what it actually looks like.

Because there is this deeply uncomfortable period between:

I did the thing.

and

I can see that the thing worked.

And apparently, somewhere inside that gap, we collectively lose our damn minds.

We start digging up the seed.

Changing the protocol.

Adding another supplement.

Changing the workout.

Checking the numbers.

Googling.

Researching.

Tweaking.

Doing MORE.

Because we interpret the absence of visible evidence as:

Nothing is happening.

When in reality…there could be a million and one micromovements being made.

Roots forming.

Cells responding.

Systems adapting.

Connections being made.

Strength accumulating.

Something reorganizing itself underneath the surface.

We just can’t see it.

Yet.

And I think that’s the part we have such a hard time with.

Not doing the work.

Not setting the intention.

Not even necessarily being consistent.

It’s continuing long enough to let something become visible without sabotaging the shit out of it because it wasn’t visible fast enough.

And considering this week‚Äôs energetic weather…

I have a feeling we’re about to get a very practical lesson in the space between effort and evidence.

The Part Where Nothing Appears to Be Happening

This week’s astrology is quieter.

And honestly? I think that’s the point.

We begin with Jupiter in Leo trine Saturn in Aries.

Jupiter wants growth.

Saturn understands that growth needs something sturdy enough to hold it.

And sturdy isn’t particularly sexy.

Sometimes growth doesn’t look like expansion.

It looks like repetition.

Foundation.

Doing the same supportive thing again.

And again.

And again.

Without applause.

Without fireworks.

Without waking up one morning to discover your entire life has transformed overnight.

This is the part nobody really posts about.

The space where you‚Äôve already started…but the result hasn‚Äôt become obvious yet.

And without visible evidence, the mind starts looking for a problem.

Should I be doing more?

Did I choose the wrong thing?

Is this even working?

Maybe.

Those are valid questions.

But there’s another possibility we don’t give nearly enough airtime:

Maybe it hasn’t been long enough to know yet.

Your Discomfort Is Not New Information

This distinction feels especially important coming out of last week’s weather.

Because yes…Sometimes we receive new information and need to change the plan.

But sometimes there isn’t new information.

There’s simply an uncomfortable absence of information.

And those are not the same thing.

Tuesday’s Mercury in Virgo sextile Mars in Cancer alongside Mars square Saturn in Aries captures this tension beautifully.

There’s an impulse toward movement.

Okay. I know what to do. Let’s fucking GO.

And then…Wait.

Which can be deeply annoying if action is one of the ways you manage uncertainty.

Because uncertainty isn’t just an idea.

We can feel it.

Restlessness.

Urgency.

Anticipation.

Agitation.

That almost itchy feeling of needing to know.

And when those sensations get uncomfortable enough…we start doing shit.

Refresh.

Check.

Research.

Change.

Add.

Remove.

Ask somebody.

Google something.

Pull another card.

Look at the analytics.

Check the garden.

Check it again.

Doing something gives us a temporary sense that we’re back in control.

But here’s the distinction:

Your discomfort is real.

Your discomfort is not necessarily new information.

Feeling impatient doesn’t mean the strategy isn’t working.

Feeling uncertain doesn’t mean you made the wrong decision.

Wanting evidence doesn’t mean evidence should exist yet.

And feeling the urge to do something doesn’t automatically mean something needs to be done.

Sometimes…you‚Äôre just waiting.

Ugh. I know.

Something Needs My Attention vs. I Want Relief From Not Knowing

I think the body becomes incredibly useful here.

Because there is a difference between:

Something requires my attention.

and

I want relief from not knowing.

They can feel remarkably similar.

Both can create urgency.

Both can make you want to move.

Both can send you looking for an answer.

But one contains information.

The other contains discomfort.

Learning to tell the difference changes a lot.

Maybe the protocol genuinely isn’t working.

Maybe the workout needs adjusting.

Maybe the strategy is wrong.

Maybe the plant needs more sunlight.

Absolutely.

But…What evidence do you actually have?

Did something change?

Did you receive new information?

Is there a clear signal asking you to respond?

Or has it simply been four days and you’re standing over the soil like:

WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU?

üòÇ

Very different situation.

The Body Is Full of Invisible Work

This is one of the reasons I think healing can mess with our perception of progress so much.

We’re often waiting for the big thing.

The symptom changes.

The lab result.

The energy comes back.

The pain decreases.

The sleep improves.

Something we can point to and say:

SEE. IT’S WORKING.

But bodies aren’t machines where we insert one intervention on Monday and receive a neatly printed outcome on Friday.

Change can accumulate.

The obvious result may be downstream from countless smaller processes we never consciously experience.

And that can make consistency incredibly difficult.

Because we’re being asked to continue supporting something before the body can give us the evidence we’re looking for.

That’s not an argument for blindly continuing anything forever.

If your body is giving you information that something isn’t supportive, pay attention to it.

But there’s a massive difference between:

My body is telling me something isn’t working.

and

My body hasn’t shown me the result I wanted quickly enough.

We need to be able to tell those apart.

Let the Roots Be Roots

Gardening will humble the shit out of you because you don’t get to see most of the important part at first.

You put a tiny seed into dirt.

Cover it up.

Water it.

And then…Nothing.

At least nothing you can see.

Meanwhile, beneath the soil, the seed may be absorbing water.

Its outer coat softens.

The first root begins to emerge.

The process has started.

The surface still looks exactly the fucking same.

And you know what doesn’t help?

Digging it up every morning to make sure it’s working.

Your job is to tend the conditions.

Water.

Soil.

Sunlight.

Temperature.

Time.

And then at some point…leave the seed alone.

There are places in our lives that deserve the same courtesy.

Not neglect.

Not blind faith.

Not continuing something indefinitely despite evidence that it isn’t working.

Just enough time for what you’re doing to actually have a chance to become something.

Where Are You Checking?

This is what I’m curious about this week.

Not simply:

What are you waiting for?

But:

What do you DO while you’re waiting?

Because that’s where the pattern lives.

Do you check?

Research?

Second-guess?

Ask five people what they think?

Change something?

Add something?

Create another plan?

Convince yourself the entire thing is doomed?

Maybe you send the message…then check whether they‚Äôve responded.

You make a change to your routine…then immediately assess whether you feel different.

You start something new…then wonder why you‚Äôre not better at it yet.

You have an important conversation…then analyze every interaction afterward looking for evidence that something changed.

You post the thing…then stare at the numbers.

You make a decision…then immediately look outside yourself for confirmation that it was the right one.

Or maybe you’re doing something consistently and beginning to think:

Shouldn’t I be seeing more by now?

Maybe.

But before you change anything…

By whose timeline?

Somatic Signals

This week, you might notice:

  • Restlessness when there‚Äôs nothing left for you to do.
  • Checking behaviors increasing when you‚Äôre uncertain.
  • An urge to add something because what you‚Äôre already doing feels too simple.
  • Wanting immediate physical evidence that a change is working.
  • Tightness or agitation while waiting for an answer.
  • Relief immediately after checking‚Äîeven when you learned absolutely nothing new.
  • Difficulty leaving something alone long enough to observe what happens.
  • A surprising sense of calm when you decide: I‚Äôve done my part for today.

Restlessness when there’s nothing left for you to do.

Checking behaviors increasing when you’re uncertain.

An urge to add something because what you’re already doing feels too simple.

Wanting immediate physical evidence that a change is working.

Tightness or agitation while waiting for an answer.

Relief immediately after checking—even when you learned absolutely nothing new.

Difficulty leaving something alone long enough to observe what happens.

A surprising sense of calm when you decide: I’ve done my part for today.

That last one matters.

Because sometimes completion isn’t:

I got the result.

Sometimes completion is:

I did today’s part.

Pattern Tracker

This week, ask yourself:

Where am I interpreting “I can’t see it” as “nothing is happening”?

What am I checking repeatedly?

What am I tempted to change even though I don’t actually have new information?

What timeline did I expect this to happen on?

Was that timeline realistic…or did I just make it up?

What conditions does this thing actually need in order to grow?

Have I been tending those conditions consistently?

And maybe the biggest one:

Does something actually need my attention right now… or do I just want relief from not knowing?

Tend the Conditions

Instead of asking:

What else can I do?

Maybe ask:

What needs to remain consistent?

Take the supplement.

Then let your body do something with it.

Do the workout. Then recover.

Send the email. Then close the inbox.

Plant the seed. Water it.

Walk away. Have the conversation.

Then allow the other person to have their own internal process.

Do today’s part.

And when your brain starts demanding proof…

See whether you can resist creating a problem simply because the evidence hasn’t arrived yet.

You don’t need to become endlessly patient.

You just need to stop interrupting processes that haven’t actually had enough time to tell you what they’re doing.

Weekly Herbal Ally

Nettle + Oatstraw

This week, I’m choosing herbs that embody the theme rather than trying to force an outcome.

  • Nettle brings mineral-rich nourishment.
  • Oatstraw is nutritive and traditionally used as a gentle, building herb rather than something designed to create a dramatic overnight shift.

Nettle brings mineral-rich nourishment.

Oatstraw is nutritive and traditionally used as a gentle, building herb rather than something designed to create a dramatic overnight shift.

And that’s exactly the point.

Some support works through accumulation.

Cup by cup.

Day by day.

Not everything needs to announce itself.

Combine equal parts dried nettle and oatstraw and steep covered for at least 20 minutes. If you prefer a stronger mineral-rich infusion, you can steep them longer.

Drink it without asking whether it has transformed your life by Thursday.

Maybe Nothing Is Happening

I think we love transformation.

What we’re significantly less enthusiastic about is the period where transformation may be occurring but doesn’t look like anything yet.

The seed beneath the soil.

The body adapting.

The strength accumulating.

The relationship deepening.

The skill developing.

The work finding its shape.

The million and one micromovements that happen before something becomes obvious enough for us to call it progress.

And maybe that’s what this quieter week is here to remind us.

Not everything meaningful announces itself while it’s happening.

Sometimes your job is to act.

Sometimes your job is to respond when new information arrives.

And sometimes…your job is to stop messing with it.

Maybe nothing is happening.

That’s always possible.

But before you decide that…

Ask whether you actually have evidence that nothing is happening—

or whether you simply don’t have evidence that something is happening yet.

Those are two completely different things.

Stop digging up the fucking seed.
